The gala final of the competition will be held in the “Bulgaria” hall with the “Camera Orphica” Orchestra of the New Bulgarian University, where Prof. Hosen has been teaching for years.
Mario Hose successfully combines his career as a soloist and chamber musician with his teaching activities and is often invited as a jury member at prestigious competitions around the world. He is currently a jury member of the “Jascha Heifetz” Competition in Vilnius, and before that he gave a concert in Genoa – the birthplace of his favorite composer Niccolò Paganini.
At his invitation, some of the most respected names in the contemporary violin teaching profession will come to Bulgaria: the Austrian Prof. Michael Frischenschlager – “the doyen of the great violin pedagogy of the 20th century”, Pavel Vernikov – “the great Ukrainian violinist, one of the pedagogues who, together with Zakhar Bron, has produced the most laureates at international competitions”. The Bulgarian concertmaster of the Hamburg Philharmonic Orchestra Ioanna Kamenarska joins them, as does the successful pedagogue in Switzerland of Bulgarian origin Filip Draganov, and the leading Lithuanian lecturer Ruta Lipinaitė-Savitskėne, head of the department at Vilnius University, will also be a member of the jury. He is categorical about all of them: “These are notable pedagogues who have been part of the juries of the largest international competitions for decades”.
The acquaintance with Professor Frischenschlager is a long time ago – he is his teacher from the Vienna University of Music, with whom “we have been close friends for 30 years”, admits Mario Hosen. He knows almost all of the members of the jury well and maintains warm collegial relations. In his words, these are "people with high morals and ethics," which is very important not only for the good working climate of the competition, but also for the young candidates "to feel that they will be evaluated by people whose morals and ethics are not questioned."
